Use bright colours as they stimulate the part of the brain related to visual stuff. Kids like bright colours.
Try using the primary colours - in bright tones. Red, Blue, Yellow etc. Or strong, bright purple or pink.
Stay away from maroon, brown, if possible/

use the primary colors blue, yellow and red. these colors are easy to distinguish from each other.
