What are the characteristics of a child genius?

The signs of a parent THINKING their child is a genius are when he drops his spoon on the floor and says YAY! or if he plays patty cake with himself not in rythym to a loud song on the car radio.
Avoiding places like Yahoo! Answers would be a good indicator of genius…

When he/she starts to pay a lot of attention to anything he’s/she’s doing.
when he/she learns to read at a young age, and can pick up things(not objects, learning material) quickly and can understand your conversations and get VERY good grades in school. This all should have happened when the child is basically a baby because it is seldom that a child carries all these characteristics of a genius
Okay, I won’t ask. The child shows their complex problem solving abilities at a very young age and you notice they are interested in the world around them. When they get their first microscope around 7, it’s time to have them tested because they are going to need a special school. My answer is that they are easy to spot right off the bat if they are in a productive environment and someone pays attention because they are loved. Abuse destroys everyone so even a child genius needs love and a good home in order to thrive.
IQ test.
Some kids can have an averge IQ, but be highly motivated and big achievers. They may appear genius but they really aren’t.
Other kids may be a genius, but be unmotivated and under achivers. They would appear dumb. These are sometimes learning disabled children.
