I definitely think some kids are smarter. Some have talent in a particular field of study.

there are children who are gifted and are in collage at age 10, so they do exist. but for the normal child i think its a a 1/2 of them not caring and the other 1/2 is the parents not forcing them to do it.

Study skills are different than general intelligence. Some kids are just naturally smart and good at school and don’t have to study as hard to get good grades. Others have to work harder.
Smart kids will never reach their full potential if they don’t have the study skills and self-discipline though.

I think everyone has the same potential to be a smart person. A lot depends on your environment. There are a lot of factors to consider. Some people are more mature and disciplined. It doesn’t necessarily mean they will turn out to be a smarter person. Plus, there are different kinds of smarts.

There isn’t any doubt that some kids are more intelligent than others, but I would say that the key to good grades is a mixture of intelligence, self-discipline, and one’s receptiveness to the pedagogical techniques employed by the teachers.

i’ve read a report that kids with a june birthday are statistically less likely to do well in exams than kids with a birthday in, say september…to do with nearly a years difference in age!

as for study skills and things, i do think some people are more disciplined, probably cos of the way they were brought up to do work e.g. if you were encouraged to do homework you’re more likely to do it as a teen

hope this helps

no actually i strongly believe that all kids have the same smartness but sadly some kids dosent use them or they dont know how to use them…

Polly Shine? I guess you’re name goes with you’re looks. Were all differently the same….

One question: Is there anyone you personally know that has way too many screws loose?

YEAH

there are definitely varying levels of overall intelligence in all humans in any age range. Both factors are important, but in general I find good genes to be the winner in nature versus nurture for this one.

I know many many people who have been given the best educations and attentions, and I still trump them :)
You can’t fix stupid.

i think it’s both…some kids absorb information with less effort than others

and some kids are more self-disciplined for studying

[and in some cases...there are the kids who do both...usually they make the awesome grades...GPA of 4.0 D.D ...etc]

Both and more.
Success and performance are dependent on a number of factors, some of which, undoubtedly, we don’t even know.

Yeah, some kids are. Last year, I’m in 9th grade now, I was doing testing for an I.E.P. My I.Q. score was 119, but it would have been higher because on some days I was stressed and I knew the right answer I just couldn’t think of them. It was hard for me to get an I.E.P because my I.Q. is 119. 120 is the gifted range I guess and 110-119 was the highly intelligent range. They said that they hardly ever see scores that high and they test alot of kids each year. I’m not saying that I’m any smarter than other kids, ’cause I fail alot, I’m just saying what I’ve been told. Also, some kids have great study skills and other don’t have any at all. I have no study skills, but then there’s kids in my class that can study for hours and get an A on the test and no matter how hard I try I can’t seem to do it. Hope this helped ‘ya!
