There is nothing a kid loves more than going on a hunting or fishing trip with his mom and dad and dressing them right for the occasion is part of the total package for the excited youngster. The priorities however, for kids hunting clothes are somewhat different then for an adult that is wearing camouflage hunting clothes.

This is because, a kid must be both safe and comfortable. Because children are smaller you will want them to be easily distinguished from a game animal for obvious reasons. This means that they are going to need a bright orange hat for him or her to wear while they are out in the field.

Also, it would be a smart idea to equip them with a whistle as well, in case they get lost. A thick heavy camouflage suit such as a gilly suit is just a bad idea for a kid, because it will quickly become uncomfortable in the field. If the weather permits it, a kid should be dressed in a light camouflage suit, so they won’t get hot when they are hiking.

Gloves and a knit ski cap would also be a good idea to bring along for a kid in the field in case the weather gets nippy. Mosquitoes and biting flies love kids and they can be prevalent in brushy and marshy areas so a head net should be handy for a kid that is coming along on a hunting trip.

The fact is that a kid has to be kept entertained in the field while everyone is waiting for the game to show up, so remember to bring a few disposable cameras for your youngster to busy him or herself with when thy get bored. Also, a child will be the first one to get thirsty, so you might think to include a canteen of water with their hunting suit.
